September

  • Alaska Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention: Sept. 25-27 in Anchorage, Alaska.
  • The International Conference on Induction Loops for Hard of Hearing People will be held Sept. 26-27, 2009, at Zurich University for Applied Sciences in Winterthur, Switzerland. Organized by the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH) and Pro Audito Winterthur, the conference will deal with the latest technology of audio frequency induction loop systems, including future developments. It is aimed at technical committees of hard of hearing organizations, installers of loops, hearing aid providers, the hearing aid industry, manufacturers of assistive listening devices, and anyone interested in issues involving hard of hearing people.   • Hearing Aids '09 Hands-On Workshop will be held October 8-10 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Gus Mueller, PhD, and Todd Ricketts, PhD, CCC-A, will provide instruction. For more information: kate.carney@vanderbilt.edu.
  • The International Hearing Society Annual Convention and Expo will be held Oct. 14-18 at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, CA. For more information: www.ihsinfo.org.
  • VNG/ENG Course 2009 Chicago: Otometrics will host its second of two comprehensive programs for video and electronystagmography Oct. 15-17 in Chicago, IL. VNG/ENG is a diagnostic tool for dizzy patients that provides insights into peripheral vestibular and CNS disorders. The course will feature Kamran Barin, PhD, and take audiologists through patient preparation, test administration, test interpretation, and reporting.   • The Academy of Doctors of Audiology 2009 Convention will be held Oct. 29-31 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort in Clearwater Beach, FL. For more information: www.audiologist.org.

November

  • "Assessment, Interpretation & Management of Balance Disorders," an advanced course presented by Micromedical Technologies Inc. for those interested in vestibular testing, will take place November 5-7, 2009 at the River Terrace Inn in Napa, CA. Featured speakers will include Joel A. Goebel, MD, FACS, professor in the Department of Otolaryngology--Head & Neck Surgery's Dizziness and Balance Center at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO; Jeff Walter, PT, DPT, NCS, of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA; and Mark Haehn of Micromedical Technologies.   • The 10th Annual Texas Academy of Audiology Conference will be held Nov. 13-14 at the Austin Marriott South in Austin, TX.  The educational program will feature keynote speaker Kristina English, PhD, AAA president, special guest speakers Barry Freeman, PhD, Jerry Northern, PhD, and many featured speakers (a complete list of speakers and the conference program can be found under the conference section on the TAA website). Topics will include "Training and Utilization of Audiology Assistants," "Preventing Music-Induced Hearing Loss in Texas Schools," "Objective Verification of Hearing Aid Features," "Counseling," and "Supervision."  There also will be a "Professional Ethics" course, providing one of the two clock hours required each renewal period by the Texas State Licensing Board.  A total of 11.5 continuing education hours will be offered (pending approval by both AAA and ASHA).   • American Speech-Language Hearing Association: 2009 Convention, will be held Nov. 19-21, in New Orleans, LA.


2010

February

  • American Hearing Aid Associates' (AHAA) 14th Annual Convention will be held Feb. 10-13 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, TX.  For more information: Carolyn Wolff, (800) 984-3272, x355.
  • The National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) 35th Annual Conference will be held Feb. 25-27, 2010 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL. Titled "Explore the World of Hearing Loss Prevention," the conference will focus on various topics of local and international concern, including "whole life" hearing loss prevention; chemicals, ototoxicity, and otoprotection; and the impending change to the Noise Reduction Rating in the United States. The conference program will feature the presentation of the 2010 Safe-In-Sound Awards™ and include several featured speakers, including: Hugh Davies of the School of Environmental Health, University of British Columbia, Canada; Jean-luc Doumont of Principiæ's Training, Consulting and Publishing, Belgium; and Christine Harrison, of the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia, Canada.   • American Academy of Audiology: 2010 Convention, will be held April 14-17, in San Diego, CA.

June

  • The 2010 Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) Conferenceand Trade Show will be held June 3-6, 2010 at the Radisson Hotel in Sudbury, Ontario.  The theme for the 2010 Conference is "Good Vibrations," and some of the topics include cochlear implants, tinnitus, captioning issues and accessibility, hearing aids, speech recognition software, etc. Young adult sessions are also included.
